The world’s No. 1 multi-use game area (MUGA) designed by Agorespace is being introduced to the Carolinas recreation market thanks to Churchich Recreation & Design.
Family-owned French company Agorespace, which has installed 5,000+ multisport field solutions across 35 countries including Canada, is credited with creating the MUGA concept.
All Ages Can Play 9 Different Sports on “First Court”
Churchich will offer the all-steel First Court by Agorespace, which allows any age to play multiple sports on a synthetic field in a contained area that can range from just over 1,600 square feet to almost a whopping 11,000 square feet.
Each multi-use game area comes with two soccer goals and two adjustable-height basketball sets along with multiple-purpose posts and a tension-adjusted center net allowing for the play in one area of:
- Soccer
- Basketball
- Tennis
- Volleyball
- Pickleball
- Badminton
- Handball
- Hockey
- Soccer-tennis
“We are excited to work with this family-owned business that has been around for 33 years and offers a quality product that brings a unique style to the Carolinas recreation market,” said Churchich owner, Sue Churchich.
Benefits of Agorespace’s Multi-Use Game Area
While Agorespace’s offerings are certainly “child’s play” they have also been embraced by serious sports enthusiasts with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) installing 19 and the Italian Football Federation adding 107 of the structures.
First Court and Classic Court offerings create a safe space for all ages to play their favorite sport and become a community focal point for exercise and social interaction.
Some of the benefits of installing a First Court multi-use game area include:
- Very well-made product that allows for 9 sports to be played in a self-contained area.
- Sanded artificial turf surface with multi-sport lines that carry an 8-year warranty.
- A well-constructed containment system made of steel with a powder coat over a dipped galvanized finish with a 30-year warranty and a 5-year warranty on the paint.
- No weld’s philosophy keeps the noise down as balls hit the framework and make it very durable and resistant to rusting.
Great solution for:
- HOAs
- Parks
- Schools
- Multi-family living spaces
More on the MUGA Concept: Fun for All
Over 30 years ago Agorespace helped create the MUGA concept.
“The objective is to bring people together in an arena made for sports. So, children and adults could practice and play football, basketball, handball, or many other activities. These multisport fields give free access to make sure anyone can enjoy it,” says Agorespace. “The multisport field can be used by kids, teenagers, and adults, no matter which sport they prefer.”
Agorespace allows clients to personalize their space including:
- Features: Add features such as extra basketball sets as needed.
- Design: Agorespace wants your MUGA to fit your environment including the choice of colors and logos as needed.
- Size: Your area can be designed to fit the space available.
Some of the technical advantages of the MUGA concept by Agorespace include:
- Double Guarantee with “Triplex” Steel: Triplex steels (those containing high amounts of manganese, aluminum, and carbon) have low mass density and high strength. Agorespace’s steel profiles of the goals, posts, and boards carry a 30-year guarantee and receive a triple anti-corrosion treatment of:
o Pre-galvanization of the metal sheet
o Cataphoresis (surface treatment that includes an epoxy-type coating)
o Thermo-lacquering
- Steel Profiles for a Better Finish: The steel profiles used for the fence posts and sports wall frames were specifically developed for optimum mechanical resistance. They allow the unattractive and potentially dangerous edge of the metal boards to be protected. The production process (cold-formed) is automated leading to a clear improvement in quality.
- Solid Basketball Set: A basketball set that does not last and needs constant repair can ruin a multi-use space. The resistance of the Agorespace basketball set was officially tested at a weight of 640kg, which is double the 320 kg required by the norm EN 15312, as proof of its solidity.
- Ultra-Resistant Goal nets and Mounting System that Reduces Wear and Tear: Free access goal nets wear out very quickly, so Agorespace decided to equip its all-metal designs with reinforced nets (steel cable and fire-retardant sheath). The company has also developed an almost indestructible mount, “pinching” the net to reduce friction, and therefore wear. A goal bar option is also available.
- Almost No Soldering Equals More Solidity: Soldering is a weak point in sports courts with balls because the welds can break due to the vibrations generated by the ball contact. These soldering areas are also generally located in the place where the surface treatment will come off first. Almost all soldering has been eliminated from Agorespace courts making the MUGA much more durable.
- Plates are Bolted not Screwed in Place: Each of Agorespace’s steel plates is bolted at four points on the frame whereas other companies may only use screws. The bolts are all capped, which protects them and the MUGA participants.
